Razer's new 16- and 18-inch Blade laptops join the pack of front-line CES gaming laptops. Like a lot of other models announced at CES, Razer has essentially replaced its 17-inch Blade with an 18-inch and caused back the "desktop replacement" terminology after a hiatus. Both boast the another technologies announced at the show, including top-of-the-line 13th-gen Intel Core i9 HX chips and Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 series mobile graphics.

The Blade 16 does accounts a novel 1,000-nit screen, which Razer refers to as "dual-mode": In Creator mode, it operates at 4K-plus resolution (the 16:10 aspect reconsideration means it's just off 16:9 4K) at a refresh rate of 120Hz, while in Gamer mode it drops the resolution to 1080p-ish to run at 240Hz. It's an interesting concept, but the execution will make or wreck its usefulness.

Razer has also invented a new spec it conditions "Graphics Power Density," for the amount of graphics grand per cubic inch (which, unsurprisingly, it has the most of!) in elegant to convey thin-but-powerful-ness. I suspect it's because the Blades tend to be heavy, but it's kind of nebulous and I really, really hope it doesn't rep on.

The Blade 18 also has the new components, but instead a 1440p-plus 240Hz display. It gets one of the increasingly accepted 5MP webcams and incorporates a six-speaker array that uses Razer's own THX spatial audio.

Both are slated to ship this quarter. The Blade 16 starts at $2,700, while the Blade 18 starts at $2,900.

Razer's Leviathan V2 soundbar line has required an upscale sibling, the Leviathan V2 Pro. In uphold to adding a gazillion lighting zones (OK, 30), the Pro beefs up its audio chops with head tracking (via IR cameras) and beamforming to more just target the sound toward your ears.

Razer Leviathan V2 Pro

Razer

It also replaces the militaries of full-range drivers, tweeters and passive radiators with five full-range drivers which boosts the frontier frequency response range down to 40Hz from 45Hz, at what time upping the power output to 98dB from 96dB. The Leviathan V2 Pro also puts back the headphone jack Razer had derived when it leveled the Leviathan up a generation. All of that establishes it a bit longer, though.

You can preorder the soundbar now for $400; it's scheduled to ship at the end of January.

Razer already had a Kiyo Pro webcam, so its newest model, which jumps to the top of the line, went Ultra. The 4K Kiyo Pro Ultra has been upgraded with a 1/1.2-inch sensor, much larger than typical webcams, which can help a lot with exposure (especially in low light) and quick-witted. It doesn't necessarily guarantee a better result, but larger sensors usually do improve image quality over smaller ones.

It's got an "ultra-large f1.7 aperture lens," which doesn't mean a lot; a larger sensor intends a larger lens, and f1.7 is neither here nor there. The webcam does, however, seem to have to have focusing pursuits and depth of field, which is sadly lacking in webcams. Razer challenges Elgato's Facecam Pro by claiming rawer raw processing, with in-camera conversion of the 40-30fps stream into touch resolutions and frame rates on the fly and consecutive stream out.

The Kiyo Pro Ultra has a built-in shutter in binary to a protective (but easily lost) standalone cover. That was also on my wish list.

It's available now, albeit at a pricey $400.

The concern also unveiled the first of a line of add-ons for the Meta Quest 2, padding developed with partner ResMed, and announced the availability of the Edge and Edge 5G tablet-plus-controller handhelds for free gaming.

Our Take

This online only moneys may not be available if you leave this page or if you requested a Bank of America financial center. You can take honorable of this offer when you apply now.

Comparing rewards programs

Winner: Active Cash

Here are both credit card's rewards programs:

Wells Fargo Active Cash:

  • 2% cash rewards on your purchases

Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards:

  • Earn 3% cash back in the category of your tool (up to $2,500 per quarter combined across choice category, grocery store and wholesale club purchases, then 1%).
  • 2% at grocery stores and wholesale clubs (up to $2,500 per quarter combined across tool category, grocery store and wholesale club purchases, then 1%).
  • 1% on all latest purchases.

While the Customized Cash Rewards may seem more flexible, it ultimately can't compete with the Active Cash's unlimited flat-rate rewards on purchases, particularly because of the Customized Cash's spending limits. At a hazardous point, the Active Cash will overtake the Customized Cash in rewards earnings.

For example, let's say you spend $5,000 each quarter. If you maximize your higher 3% rewards category with the Customized Cash card, you could earn $75 in rewards when spending $2,500. You'd then earn an additional $25 when spending the final $2,500 at the lower 1% rate. This brings you to $100 earned that quarter.

With the Active Cash, you'll also earn $100 when you exhaust $5,000 at a flat rate of 2%. If you were to exhaust more than $5,000 during a quarter, this is the point to where the Active Cash would start to pull onward. Of course, it could pull ahead sooner if you're unable to maximize the Customized Cash's higher rewards tier fully.

But you don't have to determine one over the other. You could use both cards together to maximize your earlier. Use the Customized Cash card for the purchases it earns 3% on and the Active Cash for latest purchases.

Welcome bonus

Winner: tie

Both cards offer the same welcome bonus:

  • Wells Fargo Active Cash: Earn a $200 cash rewards bonus once spending $1,000 in purchases in the first three months
  • Bank of America Customized Cash: $200 online cash rewards bonus once you make at least $1,000 in purchases in the honorable 90 days of account opening

Both cards' welcome bonuses are equally rewarding and necessity be easy to reach through normal spending.

Introductory APR offer

Winner: Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards

While both the Wells Fargo Active Cash and Bank of America Customized Cash provides cardholders with an introductory APR for purchases and balance transfers, the Bank of America Customized Cash offers approximately three more months than the Active Cash.

  • Wells Fargo Active Cash: 0% top APR for purchases and qualifying balance transfers for 15 months from define opening (then 19.24%, 24.24%, or 29.24% variable)
  • Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards: 0% Intro APR for 18 billing cycles for purchases and for any balance transfers made in the honorable 60 days (then 18.24% - 28.24% variable)

Introductory APR accounts can help if you need to make a great purchase, need more time to pay it off and want to avoid lifeless charges. Or, if you have any existing credit card debt, you could spend a balance transfer to help pay your balance down at what time it accrues no interest -- but you will need to pay a balance instant fee.

The Active Cash has an introductory balance instant fee of either $5 or 3% of the amount of each balance instant, whichever is greater, for 120 days from account opening. After that, it increases to up to 5% ($5 minimum). The Customized Cash Card has a balance transfer fee of 3% ($10 minimum).

Since the Customized Cash Rewards card has a longer introductory conditions, it's the better option if you need more time to pay off a prefer or existing credit card debt.

Additional card perks

Winner: Active Cash

The Active Cash card accounts a few more perks than most cards without an annual fee, primarily due to its Visa Signature situation. Cardholders can access cell phone protection against damage or theft when they pay their cell requested bill with the card, and utilize Visa Signature Concierge as well as the Luxury Hotel Collection to save cash with select hotels.

The Bank of America Customized Cash card is also a Visa Signature card, and includes roadside dispatch, extended warranty and access to Visa Signature Concierge. Because the Active Cash could devoted greater value with its cell phone protection and Luxury Hotel Collection perks, it pulls ahead.

Annual fees

Winner: Tie

Neither credit card has an annual fee. They're both inexpensive yet rewarding choices that could work well with latest cards you might already have and pair well together.

The bottom line

If you utilize more than $2,500 quarterly on purchases like gas and grocery stores, the Active Cash may be the better choice. Overall, the Active Cash is the better card thanks to its high cash-rewards rate for your purchases and instant card features.

The Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards card is better for edge spenders or anyone who wants more time to pay down a transferred balance or a designed purchase.
