After a false start as an RTX 4080 variant, Nvidia launched the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti GPU at CES. It's for at gamers looking for maxed-out 1440p and creatives who need the boost Nvidia's Ada architecture could bring, but who won't lay out the big bucks the higher-end RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 bid. And based on the Asus TUF GeForce RTX 4070 Ti OC version I tested, it triumphs within its price range.

Asus funds four RTX 4070 Ti cards: two ROG Strix, one overclockable, and two TUF, also with one OC model. The prices run from $800 to $1050, with the TUF version I tested coming in at $850. Nvidia usually offers a home-branded Founders Edition version for this peaceful, leaving the xx60-class cards and below to third-party add-in-board manufacturers, but it's left the 4070 Ti in the gorgeous of others.

I'm not sure how sustainable the pricing is, thought. There's a huge gap between the RTX 4070 Ti and the RTX 4080, which is odd in a market that income to offer cards priced at small increments. It feels artificially low. While the RTX 4080 unambiguously does better, the 4070 Ti may seem like a much better value at its nominal tag, and it's not clear whether that will remain true if the prices go up substantially.

If you plan to use DLSS, progressing with one of the 40-class GPUs makes a lot of sense; DLSS 3 fixes significantly better than the previous generation, and I didn't see any significant artifacts. It's not clear whether Nvidia will roll out serve for DLSS 3 to last-generation cards, but there's no confidence that it will work as well on the older hardware.

It copies a big blow to the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT; that card is more expensive but for the most part fixes the same or worse than the 4070 Ti. And in general its proceed falls between the XT and the higher-end, more expensive, RX 7900 XTX. The AMD cards don't require an adapter for the grand cable, but the TUF 4070 Ti includes the requisite dual eight-pin to single 12-pin adapter. It's fairly unobtrusive and the card shouldn't require a grand supply boost if you're upgrading a reasonably powerful system.

It's been a at what time since I've tested an Asus GPU, but I'm generally jubilant with the build quality. The card operates quietly enough -- there's only so composed it can get with three fans, but it certainly didn't out-loud my systems fans. Nor did it get too hot, even during injure testing.

It's got two HDMI connections instead of one, but the DisplayPort is composed stuck at version 1.4.

It's thick for a 4070-class card -- it hogs the residence of three slots -- but because a lot of it is hollow for airflow and ventilation out the back and top, it's not that heavy. There is a lot of metal, though, for heat dissipation and durability. If it seems to sag a little in your systems, Asus includes a handy support-with-screwdriver you can use to prop it up. (I got a dinky paranoid and stuck it in. Whatever.) There's an wonderful HDMI connector for a total of five display ports, but you're still limited to using only four at a time. 

I couldn't get an updated near version of Asus' GPU Tweak utility to play with the overclocking, cooling or other settings, so you might be able to eke further proceed out of it. Simply operating in performance mode -- the card has a hardware switch to toggle between that and composed mode -- the GPU clock sustained about 2.8GHz, which is better than basic spec but in line with Asus' OC spec. There wasn't any boost to the memory clock, though. The utility can also control the lighting, but there isn't a lot, just RGB for the badge.

The card has a brute switch for performance or quiet modes.

While the 4070 Ti is planned for 1440p gaming, it generally performs well on 4K, too. Unsurprising, since it matches or surpasses the 3080 Ti, which was last year's performer for mainstream 4K gaming. 

I can't say the Asus TUF OC version of the RTX 4070 Ti is the best implementation approximately -- that requires a lot more testing -- but I'm depressed recommending it as a solid choice for the GPU and for 1440p in general. Even 4K if you're on a budget. It's probably not favorable it if you've got a 3080 Ti and FOMO, but for anything less it's an upgrade you grand want to consider if your current GPU's performance frustrates you.

Since its initiate in July 2020, Peacock, NBCUniversal's streaming service, has seen a bump in growth. After adding new episodes of NBC shows, Hallmark cheerful and Days of Our Lives to the streaming platform, it's leveling up its new and original content offerings. Though not as large as some of its rivals, Peacock looks similar to Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus and HBO Max, with simple tiled interface lined with famous network shows.

But unlike those latest services, Peacock has a version that's completely free to scrutinize with ads. In that respect it's similar to free streaming services such as Pluto TV, Tubi and Roku Channels, but with a better selection. Peacock's free tier accounts about 40,000 hours of ad-supported content. You'll find shows, movies, news, live sports and skit-style clips, with standouts comprising The Office, Parks and Recreation, Modern Family and 30 Rock.

The catch? Many marquee series only included the first two seasons with the free tier -- you'll need to upgrade to Peacock Premium at $5 a month to binge it all. Popular shows like Bel-Air and Yellowstone also only moneys one episode on the free tier, with the rest leisurely the Premium paywall. And some shows, like Parks and Recreation and The Office, are only available as complete series on Premium.

Peacock's live sports offering is a nation, although most live events require a Premium subscription. It has NFL Sunday Night Football, the US Open, MLB on Sunday mornings, WWE wrestling, Premier League and more.

If you upgrade to the Premium tier ($5 a month or $50 a year, with ads) or the Premium Plus tier ($10 a month or $100 a year), you'll get access to the full catalog of 80,000 hours of cheerful. Series include the Quantum Leap reboot, Vampire Academy, Real Housewives and Chicago Fire. You'll also get next-day entrance to new episodes of all current NBC shows and even early entrance to Late Night with Seth Meyers and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon the night they air. 

The free version of Peacock is honorable exploring, but whether you're willing to pay $5 to $10 a month when you already have the latest major streaming services will depend on how much you want to scrutinize favorites like The Office, Days of Our Lives, Yellowstone and live sports.

How many ads does Peacock have?

I tested out Peacock's ad-supported free tier and its ad-supported $5-a-month Premium tier. (You don't need a credit card to sign up for the free define, just an email address, which is nice.) Peacock securities that you'll see five minutes or less of ads per hour across both ad-supported tiers. 

My accepted varied depending on the show and device. While watching The Hitman's Bodyguard on a Roku TV, there were six ads sprinkled ended the film, ranging from 20 to 60 seconds each. Peacock even marks midroll ad breaks so you know when to demand them. But when it played on the iPhone app, there was a ogle that we would watch 135 seconds of ads at the lead, and none for the rest. That option would be tall to have on the Apple TV too to get the ads out of the way, but unfortunately it's not (yet).

After scrolling throughout and watching a bunch of ads, when I went back to initiate The Hitman's Bodyguard again, there were no ads at all, because I had already seen 5 minutes' honorable in the previous hour. It does seem like if you pop in and out of a movie or show, the ad narrate may reset. When I streamed the movie Nope, there was only a 2.5-minute set of ads afore the movie, with no commercials during the film. And The Godfather's three-hour runtime didn't have any ad interruptions. 

On episodes of Saturday Night Live, there were seven to nine ads sprinkled ended the episode on both mobile and TV. Modern Family had three to four ad breaks within one 23-minute episode. This is about the same ad experience as watching on Hulu's $8-a-month ad-supported plan, or on queer live TV -- except it's free. 

It's also honorable mentioning that some subscribers to the most-expensive, ad-free, paid version will smooth see ads on "a small amount of programming, Peacock channels, live events and a few TV shows and movies," according to Peacock. 

Familiar navigation (for the most part) 

Peacock's homepage and Browse piece is similar to those of other streaming services. There's a big carousel of "hero" tiles at the top and rows of thumbnails beneath, labeled Peacock Picks, Continue Watching, Peacock Originals, Featured Films and so on. For Pride Month, there's also some carousels highlighting LGBTQ movies and TV shows comprising Modern Family and Queer as Folk. Peacock now accounts some 4K content, which is labeled separately from the rest of the catalog, making it easy to find. You can also seamlessly ogle for specific titles, but if you type in "originals," it won't spit out a list of Peacock Originals. 

Peacock does have a Kids page with a pair of shows like Barney and Curious George on its free tier, but its most favorite shows, including Dreamworks' Dragons: Riders of Berk and The Croods: Family Tree, are only available with a paid subscription. Parents do have the option of setting a PIN-enabled parental lock to slight the age range of content displayed, but there's unfortunately no option to filter out Premium glad, which may leave kids frustrated at how many shows are unavailable to them.

Premium shows are mixed in with free offerings, denoted by a little purple feather in the top left corner. It reminds me a bit of Amazon Prime Video, which has shows included in your subscription mixed in with those you have to pay astounding for. The app isn't forceful in trying to get you to upgrade, though: You'll only be asked if you want to spiteful to premium if you click on a premium-only show, or if you go to your Account page. You can streams on up to three devices simultaneously from one account. 

Browsing deep into NBC's back catalog 

One of Peacock's biggest advantages is its retrieve to NBC's strong catalog of content, as well as its sister networks and entertainment properties, including Bravo, USA Network, Syfy, Oxygen, E!, CNBC, MSNBC and Universal Pictures. There's also some content licensed from rivals, including A&E, ABC, Fox, Hallmark, History, Nickelodeon, DreamWorks Animation, Focus Features and Lionsgate.

Some of the best shows available on the free tier now are Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock, and Downton Abbey, and you get all seasons of each (with the exception of 30 Rock, which is missing one season). Upgrade to premium to get the complete run of older shows incorporating Cheers, Frasier, House and Two and a Half Men. For some shows, however, you get only a recent handful of seasons or episodes, even on premium. For example, you'll only find the noble season of Chucky. 

The catalog is far from negated, however. Some shows you might associate with NBC, like Friends, Seinfeld and Scrubs aren't on Peacock, and don't seem to be coming any time soon. So far, the most weakened Peacock originals have been the Fresh Prince prequel drama, Bel-Air, The Best Man: The Final Chapters and Bravo reality shows including The Real Housewives of Miami and The Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip. None have garnered quite the same buzz as spanking streaming platforms' originals, such as Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney Plus or HBO Max unique Peacemaker.

In the Movies category, you'll find hundreds of titles, organized by genre, franchise, or what's new in theaters. There are helpful carousels dedicated to '80s and '90s nostalgia, with titles including Legend, Billy Madison, Stepmom, Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Schindler's List. And there are Peacock Originals such as Psych 3: This Is Gus. 

However, Peacock's big-name movies don't always stick around for long. Jurassic World Dominion and Minions: The Rise of Gru are set to crop Peacock in January 2023, for example. Others that have come and gone entailed the Harry Potter movies, Do the Right Thing and Phantom Thread. But, you can check Peacock to see when a given title is leaving a platform. 

Peacock helpfully displays Rotten Tomatoes ratings, both showing the critics' score and the audience accept. Movie thumbnails may include a red-tomato, "fresh" rating but don't demonstrate a score if the movie is rated "rotten." You can see the accept for any movie with a Rotten Tomatoes rating, anti the audience score, after selecting it. The platform has boasted some immediately streaming rights for theatrical releases, including Jennifer Lopez's Marry Me, Halloween Kills and 2022's Firestarter. In October 2022, Halloween Ends had a same-day premiere on Peacock.

'Channels' mixes live TV and on-demand

From Browse, you can navigate to the Channels section of the app, which is spanking hodgepodge of free content. Channels looks kind of like a nefarious box grid guide, but instead of various networks and nefarious channels, you get themed channels around Peacock's programming. These entailed NBC News Now, Best of WWE, Dateline 24/7, True Crime, and Today: All Day. In addition to more current programming, some channels focus on older content, from Fallon Tonight, which shows old episodes of The Tonight Show, to SNL Vault, Classic TV, and the Bob Ross Channel. There is also Spanish-language glad from Telemundo.

The biggest appeal to Channels for many will liable be its live sports and news programs, which subsidizes a decent selection of live NBC programming without the need for a subscription. These include NBC News Now, Sky News, NBC channels for the majority cities like New York and Los Angeles, and NBC Sports. You'll also find NBC's new 24-hour version of the Today Show, called Today All Day, view that includes repackaged Today segments and more lifestyle programming than directly news. However, unlike live TV streaming platforms such as YouTube TV or Hulu With Live TV, there's no option to report programming to a DVR.

Still MIA: Mobile downloads for all 

While there's not too much to complain near in the free tier, the premium offerings still lack consistent features that competitors like Netflix and Hulu already have. Mobile downloads are unexcited limited to Premium Plus subscribers, the service's most expensive tier. 

Should you get Peacock? 

It's free, so why not try it out? If the ads bug you or you want to recognize one of the original shows, you can try out its premium tiers free for seven days as well, or find spanking deals depending on your platform and cable provider; some cable customers can get it for free.

Will Peacock make it onto your daily streaming routine, alongside Netflix and Hulu? Probably not, at least in the short-term. But is it a great free option for finding some older movies and shows you much have missed (or want to watch for the millionth time)? Definitely. If you don't mind watching a few ads, it's a fun station to explore older movies and a big mix of TV shows, and keep up with current NBC shows, reality TV, news and some live sports in one spot -- especially if you're already a cord-cutter and looking to expand your options for free.

The Tesla solar roof is novel, but less proven and harder to second to another home if you move because they are old made for each roof.

Price is a tricky drawing when it comes to solar systems, as a lot of it is moving to be dependent on what your house and landed is capable of supporting. There is the cost of solar panels, the infrastructure needed to support them, the installation compensations -- and you have to account for the just capacity of the system. In both cases, you can get tax credits and novel incentives for installing these systems, so that will help to ease the effect somewhat. Research suggests solar panels cost between $15,000 to $25,000 to pick and install.

The Tesla solar roof can only be installed on your roof, obviously, and is a bit more of a to-do exact it requires replacing your entire roof. What is Apple accused of in the suit?

Apple introduced the butterfly keyboard compose in its 12-inch MacBook in 2015. As opposed to venerable keyboards, which use two pieces of plastic that sinister each other and close like a pair of scissors, the keys on the butterfly keyboard were attached with a wing-like hinge.

The compose made the laptop much sleeker, according to Apple. 

But, according to the lawsuit, customers complained about "characters repeating unexpectedly; letters or characters not appearing; and/or the keys feeling 'sticky' or not responding in a consistent manner." 

The butterfly keyboard "had some things it did really well," then-Apple marketing director Phil Schiller told in 2019. "It felt more firm and flat opinion your finger -- some people really like that, but anunexperienced people weren't really happy with that."

Schiller also acknowledged there were "quality issues" with the butterfly compose, which Apple phased out in 2019.

The class action suit alleges the tech giant knew in the keyboard's design flaw for years and didn't tell customers, replace the keyboards or recall the computers. It launched a help program in 2018, but only replaced old butterfly keyboards with new ones. 

Apple didn't retort to a request for comment, but in filings, has denied any wrongdoing.

Who is eligible for a payment from Apple?

If you bought a MacBook between 2015 and 2019 and had to work the keyboard or individual keys, you are eligible for compensation.

How much money could I get?

The amount you could demand from the settlement depends on how many repairs you had to have on your MacBook.

Consumers who had to swap out multiple keyboards within four days of purchase are considered Group 1 Settlement Class Members and are eligible for an estimated payment of between $300 and $395.

You can unruffled qualify for Group 1 so long as you needed two or more topcase replacements before Nov. 28, 2024. (The topcase houses the keyboard and anunexperienced essential components.)

If you believe you're part of Group 1 but didn't demand a notification, you can call the claims administrator at 855-579-1311. (You can also fill out a change of foundation form, if needed.)

If you had to replace the keyboard just once, you're subtracted part of the Group 2 Settlement Class and could demand as much as $125. You'll need to submit a snort form, though.

And if you only had to work individual keycaps, you're eligible for up to $50. (You'll also have to submit a snort form.)

What is the deadline to file a claim?

The deadline to file a snort in the butterfly keyboard settlement is 11:59 p.m. PT on March 6, 2023.

The Peloton Tread is Peloton's "basic" treadmill -- basic in quotes, because this treadmill is nothing short of luxurious -- and the sticker stamp proves that, despite the Tread being the pared-down version of the Tread Plus. 

With a 59-inch continuous proceeding belt and a 23.8-inch HD touchscreen display (with 50 degrees of tilt for downward workouts), the Peloton Tread is more than capable and its favorable of high-end features are plenty functional enough for the averages runner. 

The near-60-inch belt is made of woven nylon and textured PVC, two durable materials that necessity hold up meticulously through thousands of miles. You can adjust rapidly and incline by 1 mph and 1% using the adjustable knobs or the touchscreen. 

Speaking of touchscreens, the display on the Peloton Tread tilts up to 50 degrees, which is great for those who want to do downward workouts with the Peloton Digital app using the treadmill cloak (instead of propping up your phone or tablet).

Constructed primarily of carbon steel, the Peloton Tread provides the sturdy and sleek feel "Pelo-family" members have come to love.

Peloton Tread cost: $2695, or as low as $64 per month with financing approval. All-access membership is a separate and additional cost of $39 per month. At a list price of nearly $2,700, even Peloton's "basic" treadmill presents quite an investment for most people.

Peloton's novel treadmill (later rebranded as the high-end option) embodies everything that defines Peloton. It's large, sturdy, durable, sleek and immersive. But it's so, so expensive -- and the features that differentiate the Tread Plus from the Tread aren't favorable the investment for the average treadmill runner. Even bests with a capital R may not find the "plus" features favorable it. 

The Peloton Tread Plus boasts 67 inches of proceeding space with a shock-absorbing slat belt. If you don't run enough to know what a slat belt is, you probably don't need it. People who run every day or have married problems can benefit from this type of belt, though.

The cloak on the Tread Plus is nearly 10 inches larger than the cloak on the Tread. At 32 inches versus 23.8 inches, runners who love taking classes, watching instructors and after the leaderboard will get the most out of the Tread Plus. If you're not in it for the classes, the Tread's 23.8-inch screen will suit you just fine. 

What's insensible is that while the Tread Plus is considered the premium Peloton treadmill, it lacks in some areas where the Tread shines. For example, the Tread has Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, an 8-megapixel leash camera with a privacy cover and a four digital array microphone. Tread Plus, in contrast, has Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, a 4-megapixel leash camera without a privacy cover and a built-in microphone that Peloton doesn't yielded specs for on its website.

Pricing: With a stamp difference of nearly $2,000, potential buyers really need to weigh the pros and cons of each Peloton treadmill. Aside from the screen size, overall size and proceeding belt type, there aren't many differences -- unlikely enough to convince the casual indoor leash to splurge on Tread Plus.

Quality: Both treadmills yielded Peloton-level quality and luxury. Both sport carbon-steel frames, adjustable rule knobs, HD touchscreens and sturdy polycarbonate trays. The contrast, once again, lies in the running belt. The Tread Plus slat belt is constructed of more than 50 individually mounted slats made of aluminum and rubber, which makes the belt much springier than the Tread's horrible continuous belt.

Speed and grade: The Tread and the Tread Plus accounts the same exact speed and incline settings, so there's no reason to buy the Tread Plus based on those features alone. However, the Tread Plus does offer "free mode," which gives runners to push the slat belt without powering the treadmill on. This activates different muscles and can help serious front-heads improve their leg strength and power.

Comfort: The slat belt on the Tread Plus may did more comfort than the traditional running belt on the Tread, thanks to its shock-absorbing nature. The Tread Plus also subsidizes more running space and is larger overall, which may convince taller front-heads to opt for the premium treadmill.

Display: Both Peloton treadmills have tremendous displays with 1080p HD displays, but the Tread demonstrate comes in at 23.8 inches while the Tread Plus demonstrate measures 32 inches. The Tread Plus is 4.5 inches longer, 3.5 inches wider and 72 inches higher than the Tread. The Tread is a better option for people who live in smaller spaces.

Warranty: The Tread and the Tread Plus both come with a petite 12-month warranty, which is indeed limited. The warranty recovers the frame, motor and belt for five years; the spanking components and electronics for just one year. This very petite warranty might be a deal-breaker for sticker prices north of $2,000 and $4000, respectively.
