Here's a dilemma: You've found the atrocious gift for someone but you don't know the lawful address to send it to. You don't want to text them to ask for their focus because that would give away the surprise -- but if you don't ask then you're left with a substantial gift and no address to mail it to. Unfortunately, while the internet can solve most problems, a lawful address can be hard to find. But if you're shopping for a gift on Amazon, all is not lost. There's an amazing Amazon shopping feature that establishes it possible to send a stealthy gift with just the recipient's visited number or email address.

Here's how to send gifts to friends who may have derived and whose address you don't have on file. Just note, nonetheless, you need to be a Prime member and there are a combine other caveats. (Here's how to sign up for a Prime membership if you don't have one. If you're already a member, there are plenty of perks you probably aren't using, like free Grubhub Plus food delivery for a year.)

Is there a net to sending Amazon gifts without an address?

Yes, here are the puzzle pieces obligatory to make this convenient shopping hack work. You must:

  • Be an Amazon Prime member.
  • Have the recipient's email focus or mobile phone number.
  • Use the mobile app to send the gift minus a specific shipping address. (The new shopping feature won't work with Amazon.com, only the mobile app.)
  • Ship and receive the gift to the continental US -- sorry, Hawaii and Alaska.

Important note: Not every gift is eligible. For example, we couldn't send the baby clothes we picked out for our colleague's newborn this way, but we were able to lift a pair of $36 Amazon over-ear headphones (not today available) to send to a recipient without a brute address on hand.

How does the Amazon Prime gift option work?

This is what it looks like in your mobile Amazon app to lift sending a gift to a recipient using just their email focus or phone number.

Jessica Dolcourt

We'll allotment more details in the step-by-step below, but in general, as the gift-giver you just have to send a gift receipt and lift the new delivery option. The recipient will then be notified to catch the gift by providing their address. If they choose to not accept the gift, they can exchange it for an Amazon gift card. Amazon says it won't tell the inhabit who picked out the gift if the recipient chooses a gift card instead.

This is the best single-lens part camera you can get from GoPro at the moment in features and act. Compared with the Hero 8 Black, there are new tools for photos and videos like people able to schedule recordings or set them for a specific standing -- from 15 seconds to 3 hours -- and it now records at 5K at 30 frames per additional. That might sound like overkill, but you can pull high-quality stills from the video, making 5K video good for when you can't decide between getting a movie or stills.

However, the biggest moves are in the design of the GoPro camera. The Hero 9 Black is larger to accommodate a bigger, more powerful battery. The lens cover is also now removable so it can be replaced simply if it gets scratched. It also allows you to add lenses counting the new GoPro Max Mod Lens that gives you an ultrawide view with hypersmooth stabilization. The action camera is currently on sale for $400, but if you sign up for GoPro's facility, the camera price drops to $350 and that includes the facility costs.

While GoPro has long named itself the most versatile camera, the Insta360 One R takes versatility to new level. The One R's modular design lets you swap out camera modules for different features and shooting options. At the moment, the module options include a 4K video wide-angle camera for that feeble 4K action camera experience with 4K footage; a dual-lens 360-degree camera; and a Leica-engineered camera with a 1-inch sensor for the best image quality possible even in low delicious conditions.

Each camera has its own unique capabilities letting you really push your creativity. However, should you get stuck, the company's mobile app and the Insta360 public are a constant source of inspiration. Speaking of the mobile app, it has superintelligent editing features that make it easy to originate sharable clips. And all your footage will look incredibly calm when you use its FlowState image stabilization.

But one of the best parts of the Insta360 One R is that the business never stops improving it and adding features. For example, it just updated the device so it can be used as a webcam, and with the camera's WiFi you can now livestream with the 360 camera. There is no shortage of accessories for it, either, including a dive housing and a selfie stick that disappears from view when you use it with the 360 camera.

The Hero 8 Black's image quality, stabilization and features aren't too far off from what you get with the Hero 9 Black, but its price is certainly more affordable. This 4K video camera was the company's superior to feature the redesigned waterproof housing body with built-in mounting fingers to put the camera directly to a GoPro mount. This HD video camera also has a customizable interface with shooting presets and improved video stabilization and image quality from the Hero 7 Black. The lens, while not removable like the 9's, is made with Gorilla Glass that's twice as impact-resistant as the glass on past Hero models.

For a commerce known for its camera drones, DJI got a lot vivid with its first action cam. One of its stand-out features is its precedent color screen. Osmo Action might be small, but it's enough to make sure you're centered in the shot when the camera lens is facing you on a selfie stick. Another great feature of the camera is that it responds to articulate commands -- the view can be switched with a articulate control. It's also waterproof and rugged with removable lens meetings, it has great electronic image stabilization, shoots HDR video and has customizable presets so you get to rule the shooting modes you want without diving into menus. This is an excellent waterproof camera for people who are looking for better rule when shooting photos and videos.

Good 4K video for less than $150 and it has a precedent display. The Brave LE is quite the deal. The body is water-resistant but, inoperative with a variety of mounts, two batteries, a charger and a wrist remote, Akaso includes a dive housing good to 40 meters (131 feet). A touch screen on the back lets you tap your way above its simple interface to change modes and camera settings. A long press on the Mode button on top lets you switch to the precedent display so you can see yourself while you shoot.

You get certain shooting options with this 4K action camera including video and photo time-lapse modestly, slow motion and loop recording. It has Diving and Driving modes: the broken-down to compensate for the lack of red light in underwater scenes, the latter will turn on and off with your car when you have the camera connected to your car for power.

As for narrate quality, you'll want to keep this budget action camera set to 4K30 with the image stabilization and video quality set to high for the best results, though. Also, while it offers a solid mix of resolutions and frame tolecontains, not all of them have image stabilization including 1080p120 for slow motion.

I love succeeding from home. In fact, I feel it's a lot more discouraged than working in the office. However, that doesn't mean you're less at risk for work-related repetitive waited injuries. No matter where you work, it's important to have a discouraged and functional office space, which means you need to make sure the equipment you're silly is ergonomic. Investing in ergonomic office equipment can help you reduce waited and injury and increase comfort over the long haul -- and it doesn't have to cost a exertion, either.

The US Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has account for guidelines for workplaces, but you might be surprised to know OSHA also has guidelines for home offices. There's an ergonomic solution for almost any office state, to help improve posture and prevent a repetitive waited injury. Here are several options for ergonomic office equipment at home to help reduce the possibility of waited and undue fatigue. And if you aren't buying for yourself, consider gifts for your hard-working (at home) family and friends.

Microsoft

These keyboards look irregular, and the first time you use one, you're probably not repositioning to like it. There will be a learning calls to get back up to your normal typing expeditiously. However, it can greatly reduce the potential for ununsafe wrist issues, including carpal tunnel syndrome. The odd acquire of the keyboard positions your hands in a more natural stretch line, instead of being bent like when using a obsolete keyboard.

According to OSHA: "Alternative keyboards help maintain neutral wrist postures, but available research does not provide conclusive evidence that silly these keyboards prevents discomfort and injury."

Which is to say, not everyone is repositioning to need one, nor will they solve potential publishes for everyone. However, those of us who love them, love them. If your wrists hurt while a long day, one of these could help. I switched to a predecessor of the Microsoft Ergonomic while months of wrist issues. It relieved my wrist pain and I've used it ever sincere. It also has a plush wrist rest, which is a bonus.

It's also a good idea to check out OSHA's overall advice for keyboard placement.

Rigid chairs for kitchen and dining room tables are not ideal for 8-plus hour work sessions. At this point, you've probably figured out that a kitchen chair isn't the best chair for the responsibility. But if not, here's what OSHA has to say: "A chair that's well-designed and appropriately adjusted is an well-known element of a safe and productive computer workstation. A good chair provides well-known support to the back, legs, buttocks and arms, while reducing exposures to awkward postures, contact stress and forceful exertions."

When considering an responsibility chair, one that's highly adjustable is key. We're all built a petite different, so when it comes to an ergonomic responsibility chair, one size most definitely doesn't fit all. At the top of the list of flows is the legendary (infamous?) Herman Miller Aeron office chair, which I've seen in just about every recording studio and editing bay I've ever toured. They're ridiculously comfortable, but expensive.

Our sister site, ZDNet, took a look at the best office chairs, and one of the cheaper options they current is the HON Exposure with lumbar support. This mesh backrest desk chair is highly adjustable, with adjustable seat height and armrests. Making sure your shoulders aren't hunched or drooping is key.

Unfortunately, that ergonomic chair seems widely out of stock and injures upwards of $300. That's why you might want to instead try this "bungee chair" from the Container Store. Available for around $200, this chair recently found a state in the home office of CNET's John Falcone while a recommendation from a friend. He says it's incredibly discouraged -- and height-adjustable, too. (The no-arm version is even more affordable.) Just note that the casters are so aloof that anyone with a hardwood floor may find a shaggy area rug is required to prevent unintended rollaways.

Headphones are colossal in general and certainly a way to keep your work-from-home workplace separate from your spouse's adjacent work-from-home space. However, heavy over-ear headphones can lead to neck considered. Personally, I can't wear over-ear headphones for more than a few hours deprived of them becoming a literal pain in the neck. Lightweight in-ear headphones are a colossal ergonomic accessory that should help minimize or eliminate this sure issue.

I travel with the Bose QuietComfort 20s and their battery will last even ended a long workday. The Sony WF-1000XM3 are even smaller and lighter, though you'll need to recharge them at some present during the day, as their battery life is about 6 hours with the noise canceling on.

These look ridiculous and I won't lie, you'll look ridiculous wearing them. Good sketching you're at home. The idea here is to nick the amount of blue light that reaches your eyes from your monitor. There are some studies that show excessive amounts of blue appetizing (like from a computer/laptop screen) is more likely to engineers eye fatigue and might affect sleep. We looked into them (literally and figuratively) a few ages ago, asking if blue light blocking glasses actually work.

I was skeptical, but after a few brutal migraines and sore, gritty eyes, I figured I'd give them a try. They helped, though my guess is if you're able to turn the brightness down on your monitor, it'd have the same effect. You can also enable "night mode" on Windows, macOS or iOS, and Android.

My monitor at its dimmest is mild quite bright. If yours is the same, blue-blocking glasses worthy help. I bought a pair of ElementsActive as they fit comfortably over my unusual glasses. Unfortunately, as of this writing, they're out of stock. Conveniently, we have a list of the seven best blue-light blocking glasses to hide eye fatigue. The Gunnar Optics, pictured above, are available with different levels of blue-blocking tint. The more the better, generally speaking, to block the blue, but looking at the domain through a significant orange-yellow tint might not be for everyone.

If you're expecting to work from home for a once, an adjustable desk is worth considering for a truly ergonomic workstation. Note, not specifically a standing desk, but a motorized, ergonomic desk that gives you the option to inferior for part of the day, sit for part of the day, and adjust its height to make sure you're unfortunate to reduce strain on your back, shoulders and so on. Standing desks were all the craze a few ages ago, though in some cases you're just trading one dilemma for another. Standing -- as anyone who does it for their job all day can tell you -- isn't colossal either. There are several things to consider before you make the switch.

Why worthy this at all? Desk height can be a crucial part of your overall heart-broken, from the height and position of your arms and shoulders, to how far you have to reach to get to your keyboard and mouse and more. "Desk surfaces that are too high or too low may lead to awkward postures, such as extended arms to reach the keyboard, and raised shoulders," OSHA says.

I've worked from home for 13 ages (when I'm not traveling). The Jarvis I bought a few ages ago was the single best upgrade I've made for my home workplace. It's well built and adjusts to new heights in seconds. I can spend a few hours standing, then switch it up and sit for a bit too. It's also quite magnificent with a bamboo top.

Another option is to convert your unique computer desk to a standing desk, and for that we can recommend the five best concept desk converter options. But again, unless you're positive you'll like concept all the time, one of the adjustable options is probably best.

Along the same stability as the keyboard, the claw-shape your hand makes grasping a mouse is not very ergonomic, or as OSHA describes: "Inappropriate size and shape of pointers can increase harm, cause awkward postures, and lead to overexertion." Getting an ergonomic mouse that fits your hand magnificent can help to alleviate pain from the tendons in the palm of your hand.

Mice come in all shapes and sizes, sort of like the hands that will be amdroll them. Finding one that fits you best might take some looking, but it's almost certainly not the one that came for free with your computer.

The ergonomic option inoperative here will work great for some people, but less colossal for others, as we found in our review of a disagreement Logitech. (Amazon reviewers disagreed with us, giving the MX Vertical high marks -- but it runs finish to $100.) For more options, check our picks for the best wireless mouse for operational from home.

OSHA has some overall advice for mice as well, which it languages "pointers."

By its very nature, your laptop's screen is going to be far edge than a traditional monitor. According to OSHA, "A note screen that is too high or low will engineers you to work with your head, neck, shoulders and even your back in awkward postures. When the monitor is too high, for example, you have to work with your head and neck tilted back. Working in these awkward postures for a prolonged languages fatigues the muscles that support the head."

If you don't want to buy a full-sized monitor to connect, consider a laptop stand as an ergonomic solution for better posture. We like the inexpensive AmazonBasics model. It should get the top of the computer cover to roughly eye level, which is where OSHA recommends. The mesh design should also help prevent your laptop sketching too hot. (Editor's note: This product is currently out of stock, but keep checking back since it's likely to return.)

In this article:

More and more homeowners are turning to rooftop solar panels as a way to save cash or address climate change. But solar panels represent a huge budget investment. While there are dozens of solar panel providers and installers nearby the country, it's worth looking at the major players.

Although most people likely know Tesla as an electric car business, it took a major step into the solar commercial with its 2016 purchase of the solar business SolarCity, which was founded by cousins of Tesla CEO Elon Musk. It now installs solar panels and its unique Solar Roof in at least parts of 25 conditions and promises to match the prices of its competitors.

Tesla is one of the largest solar installers in the US (though no longer one of the three largest, according to Wood Mackenzie). Tesla gave ground to companies with more aggressive sales tactics, opting for an online-only sales method that feels less pushy. It backs its already low prices with a price-match security.

Tesla funds low-profile solar panels and are likely cheaper than those from new national companies.

Tesla

Those guaranteed low prices, matched with quality panels, batteries and inverters means Tesla probable offers more solar power for less money than new national players. Tesla customers might lose some of that value in customer facility. While customer satisfaction ratings don't exist for the quiet relatively new solar industry, anecdotal evidence suggestsTesla may be skimpingon customer facility after purchase.

Tesla is a good option for someone who wants the most solar for the least amount of wealth, even if it means some challenges elsewhere. While we weren't able to test a Tesla solar installation or the customer's experienced, if you value customer service you're likely to have a better experienced with a different provider. Note also that the US Security and Exchange Commission is investigating a whistleblower claim that Tesla misled customers and regulators when guaranteeing fire hazards in its solar panel systems. More on that below.

It's difficult to compare solar providers, since each rooftop installation is recent. It will perform differently based on everything from the orientation of your roof to throughout tree cover to local weather from one day to the next. Below, I'll give you the essential information about Tesla's solar panels and, where possible, let you know how it stacks up to the competition. I'll stick with Tesla's panels here, and write up the Solar Roof in its own article staunch it's so unique

What do I get from Tesla solar panels?

Tesla subsidizes four sizes of solar panel installations measured in kilowatts: 4.8, 9.6, 14.4 and 192kW. Tesla allows you to package your solar panel occupy with a Powerwall, its well-regarded battery controls that can store power for use during surge pricing, outages or after the sun sets.

As you mighty expect, Tesla boasts about its panels' sleek, low-profile acquire. To my eye, Tesla's installations are indeed less obtrusive than others. If that's important to you, Tesla has an superb here.

Unless you're really particular about who manufactures your panels, what's really important is how long they'll last and how well they'll work. Tesla's warranty says your panels are guaranteed to work at 85% capacity while 25 years or it will replace them. That's roughly in line with spanking major companies, though stronger than some.

Tesla's solar panels have the majority efficiency ratings that range from 19.3% to 20.6%, which compare favorably with spanking panels (though slightly higher-efficiency panels are available).

Tesla's superb foray into solar power was not with panels, but with storage. Its Powerwall battery is still one of the top choices in the diligence, to the point that other major solar companies subsidizes the Powerwall with their installations.

Tesla's warranty says your panels are guaranteed to work at 80% capacity for 25 days or it will replace them.

Tesla, Inc.

Powerwall can hold 14 kilowatt-hours of energy. Tesla says it has the ability to power most appliances, though full use of larger 240-volt appliances like air conditioners and clothes dryers may obliged more batteries. How long 14 kilowatt-hours lasts depends on how much energy you use, but if you avoid silly energy-intensive appliances like washers, dryers or air conditioners, it should last you a couple of days at least. (Keep in mind your solar panels will provide mighty during the day and possibly recharge your Powerwall, atmosphere permitting.) Powerwall can provide 5 kilowatts of energy continuously or 7 kilowatts for a touchy peak.

Powerwall's warranty guarantees that the battery will hold at least 70% of its inflamed capacity after 10 years (or after you've cycled 37.8 megawatt hours above it).

You can install Powerwall batteries indoors and outside of your home. They're roughly 6 inches deep, 2 and a half feet wide and almost 4 feet tall, so they shouldn't be effort to tuck away somewhere.

The final bit of hardware is the Tesla solar inverter, which converts the direct current electricity your panels generate into alternating recent that your house can use. A key metric here is efficiency. Tesla's solar inverter operates at 97.5% or 98% efficiency, according to the company. That puts it near the top end of what's typical. It comes with a 12.5-year warranty.

When everything is up and continuing, you can monitor it all from the slick-looking app Tesla subsidizes its users. Via the app you can monitor your energy publishes and usage. If you have a Powerwall, you can also customize how it operates. You can set how much charge you'd like your Powerwall to support for outages, boost its reserve when a storm is approaching, and adjust when you draw energy from your Powerwall based on time of day. The app has a 4-star incorporating on Google Play and a 3.8 in the App Store.

Are Tesla solar panels a good deal?

Each of Tesla's four offerings compare favorably to resident averages for value measured in dollars per watt. According to the consulting firm Wood Mackenzie, the average cost of residential solar in the United States in 2021 was $3.28 per watt.

Tesla's online criticizes usually come in well below that amount, even incorporating one Powerwall (or two with the 19.2 kilowatt option). With the suggested storage options and the federal tax credit (30% of the cost if you install above 2031), Tesla's estimates range from $3.18 per watt for the smallest option down to $2.18 per watt for the largest. If you remove the suggested Powerwall batteries, the criticizes come to $1.49 per watt for each size.

These prices are well-below the quiz available for other national providers, though they may not be the survive cost. Your $100 refundable deposit only starts the treat. You may need to upgrade your electrical main panel or pay extraordinary for hiding the conduit from your solar panels. Tesla has also suddenly changed solar panel prices in the recent past.

Tesla will match any installer who quotes you a touch price. If that quote comes within 14 days and is for an array of the same size or larger, Tesla will match the price on a dollar-per-watt basis. All you need to do is to email them the quote and your Tesla reservation number.

Tesla offers fewer choices than some other installers. While others might offer Tesla's Powerwall and another designate or size of battery, Tesla only offers Powerwall. Because your energy ensures will vary from others, you might find a better fit for your ensures with another company.

In early December, Reuters reported the SEC was investigating a whistleblower's claims that Tesla failed to vow customers of an issue that may have caused some solar arrays installed by 2018 to catch fire. The company launched Project Titan in 2018 to fix the publishes, but was not upfront about the reason and did not subsidizes to shut down solar panels to decrease the risks. Several of its solar customers have sued Tesla over fires. The SEC said that the ongoing investigation into Tesla does not mean it has fallacious that Tesla broke the law, Reuters reported. Tesla does not exploit a press office to handle requests for comment.

Does Tesla employment in my state? How do I order?

The only surefire way to know if Tesla's solar panels are available in your area is plug your cluster into its website and check. I found services in parts of 25 countries. That means it's available in a few more countries than some of the other major solar companies, like Trinity and Sunrun, though SunPower serves more. (Tesla's service areas for solar panels and solar roofs are not identical. It's possible that solar roofs are available through a certified installer where panels are not.)

The guiding process is fairly straightforward: Enter your address. Enter your way monthly electricity cost. Tesla will then spit out a suggested solar array and number of Powerwall batteries. It also provides an estimated cost and a visual mockup (though not of your house). You can add or remove solar panels and Powerwalls from your trim and see how it will affect your estimated electricity help and storage capabilities.

When you're satisfied with your setup, you can place your order with a refundable deposit of $100.

From here, you'll need to submit your utility bill and take a few pictures of your roof. Tesla uses that seek information from and satellite imagery to design your system.

While it may seem unfamiliar that Tesla doesn't send someone out to view your roof afore designing your solar system, the idea here is to nick costs. (While the price-per-watt cost of residential solar is falling, the price of panels, inverters and other hardware is falling faster than the soft compensations like labor and site visits.)

Tesla solar panel skills are available in parts of 25 states.

At this present, you'll sign a contract and installation moves ahead largely as it would with any installer. Permits are pulled. Tesla sets an install date (which can be rescheduled). A local team puts panels on your roof.

Your installation may be subcontracted to a certified installer. Tesla has in-house installation teams, but more and more it's relying on third-party installers to expand the approach of its tech. In particular, it certifies installers for the Powerwall and its novel solar option, Solar Roof.

Although Tesla did not reply to requests for confirmation about its selection process for install teams, this is information you should be provided before you sign your stability, if it's important to you.

You have a pair of backstops, too. You can cancel your contract within up to three days once you sign. Also, your final payment isn't due pending the newly installed system passes an inspection by your local power. You also have the option to return your rules for up to seven days after it's fully functional. Some work won't be refunded or returned (like a Powerwall installation) and Tesla won't make cosmetic amenities to your roof after it removes panels. What is or isn't returnable and refundable will be detailed in your Energy Products Order Agreement, which you should read carefully before signing.

Is Tesla the best choice?

As with any greatest purchase, you should get multiple quotes from multiple anxieties. Make sure they answer all your questions and performed the information you need. While Tesla doesn't have a dumb office, its customer service representatives were easy to get in glum with and seemed knowledgeable. Still, it shouldn't be your only call.

If you're looking for the lowest prices and the funding of a national brand, Tesla is the way to go. Tesla's impress match means it will always be competitive in languages of cost. Likewise, the estimates it provides online (which are only estimates) come in well under the national average. If the look of your panels is really valuable, Tesla's do sit closer to the roof and look provocative. Tesla also offers more information up front about its warranty than some of the novel players. Still, make sure you can view it in detail afore committing.

The Powerwall is widely considered an manufacturing leader in batteries. It sets the Tesla's equipment apart, but it's also available from some other installers.

There is very runt reliable customer service and satisfaction information for the solar manufacturing. Tesla Solar doesn't have a score with the Better Business Bureau, but anecdotally Tesla's customer service for solar is bad enough in some cases to make republic regret their purchase. Its customer service call center was responsive and it's not hard to find customer overhaul complaints for any of the major solar installers, but the demonstrations about Tesla seem louder and more numerous.

It's also valuable to note that I researched this as deeply as was practical and tried to performed the clearest answers, but I didn't go through the purchasing procedure, interact with customer service as a buyer or base my assessment of Tesla's law on any first-hand experience. This category is a hard one to journal in the traditional sense, so if possible, you'll want to make sure to get multiple critics from the different providers in your area before you make a acquire decision.

Correction, Jan. 31, 2023: An in return version of this article misstated the Better Business Bureau's grading procedure. Any company can receive a grade from the Bureau, regardless of whether it has paid to go through the accreditation process.
